Artiphon went under and abandoned the Orba's app, so I reverse-engineered the protocol and built a browser console that keeps the instrument alive.
Artiphon, Inc. ceased operations and entered liquidation in 2025, the official Orba apps have ceased updating, and are really hard to find. I decided to reverse engineer the protocol and build an interface that lets one control the devices with just a browser.
The Orba Console is a control surface for the Artiphon Orba. Plug the Orba in over USB, or connect over Bluetooth, and drive everything the official app used to: instruments and presets, per-part mix (volume, reverb, delay), tempo, key and scale, quantize. Plus a built-in looper and a piano-roll note editor.
The reverse-engineered protocol itself lives in its own repo, orba-protocol, documented for anyone building their own tools.
